Itsaskorda's range of own products originates in important R&D activities carried out by the company since its creation.

90% of the products currently sold by the company derive from R&D projects implemented with our own resources.

This constant effort more and more often entails taking new technologically more complex steps. Always directed towards the development of new products capable of meeting concrete market demands. In turn, these products imply developing new manufacturing processes which are also designed and set up using internal resources.

Itsaskorda's average annual investment in R&D equals 10% of its turnover.

These are examples of our most important achievements:

Combirop: Development of a multi-purpose product for applications requiring high toughness and elongation stability.
Seine: Development of virtual and real prototypes of a mixed rope usable in the fishing and industrial sectors, and validation of same.
Iberoeka Itsasnova: Development of aquaculture systems based on new advanced mooring and fixing techniques as well as using new materials and processes, within a consortium with Chilean companies.

These are the major R&D facilities available to Itsaskorda:

• Design and simulation platform.
• Development laboratory fitted with product testing equipment.
• Laboratory wire extruding machine, for developing new spinning processes.

3D design, finite element calculation and simulation allow us to generate virtual product designs for determing the rope life, breaking strength, etc. of each individual product. For simulation purposes, we use the following tools:

IBM IntelliStation, with 1GB RAM

MSC Software (MacNeal-Schwlender Corporation):

MSC/Patran 2005r2: This is MSC pre- and post-processor. It was used to create the model mesh, to display the calculation results and to define the calculation parameters.

MSC/MARC 2005r2: This is MSC nonlinear FEA program, indispensable for contact analyses
